>>Weekend Snow Hurt Shopping Season
(Annapolis, MD) -- The Maryland Retailers Association says the blizzard Saturday -- the last weekend before Christmas -- was "a real blow for Maryland merchants." Association President Tom Saquella says that Saturday is historically the biggest sales day of the year and he says most association members report their sales were off 60 to 80-percent. However, Association President Tom Saquella says Monday reports were very encouraging with malls and other shopping areas extremely crowded. He says they hope to make up the loss and get close to their goal.
